Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Rusutsu from Niseko or Sapporo?

From Niseko: 30-minute drive or shuttle bus. From Sapporo: about 90 minutes by car or direct bus. The resort offers free shuttle buses from nearby areas during ski season.

What's special about Rusutsu's terrain?

Rusutsu has three mountains (Mt. West, Mt. East, Mt. Isola) with 37 courses. It's famous for excellent tree skiing, long groomed runs, and less crowded slopes compared to Niseko. Great for intermediate to advanced skiers.

Is Rusutsu family-friendly?

Very. The resort has a kids' snow park, family-friendly groomed runs, and an indoor wave pool / sports facility (open in winter as part of the hotel complex). The connected Rusutsu Resort Hotel & Convention is genuinely ski-in/ski-out from its monorail link to the lifts. Childcare and English-speaking kids' ski lessons can be booked through the resort. Note that the famous outdoor amusement park itself only runs in the green season — in winter only the indoor pool/entertainment facilities are open.

How much does a Rusutsu lift ticket cost?

Adult one-day passes are roughly ¥8,500–9,500 in peak season, with cheaper afternoon and half-day rates and clear per-day discounts on multi-day passes. The Mountain Collective / Ikon Pass partnerships at Rusutsu sometimes give international skiers free or discounted days — worth checking before booking a Niseko-only pass. Children, students and seniors get standard discounts.
