Makino Kogen sits above the Makino highland of Takashima in northern Shiga, in the same corner of the prefecture as the famous Metasequoia avenue and the northern shore of Lake Biwa. A small, gentle area, it is an easy snow day within reach of Kyoto and the Kansai cities.
