Frequently Asked Questions

What is grass skiing and what equipment do I need?

Grass skiing uses short skis fitted with caterpillar-track rollers under each binding, letting you slide down grass slopes the same way you would on snow. Rentals (skis, poles, helmet and elbow/knee protection) are normally available on site — confirm with the facility before driving up because opening days are limited. Wear long sleeves and trousers; falls on grass hurt more than falls on powder.

Is Nakaoyama Kogen open during weekdays?

Generally weekends and Japanese public holidays only between April and November. Weekday operation may be possible for group bookings or summer-school programmes by prior arrangement. The mountain road in is narrow and winding, so check the facility's current opening calendar before driving up — making the trip and finding it closed is the most common visitor complaint.
